Tetrapond Winter Island
Ice traps harmful gases underneath the pond surface, and prevents oxygen from entering it, resulting in water quality problems that may harm fish. Also, a lack of running water is the main reason for the loss of birds during winter, as they cannot wash themselves or drink. The TetraPond Winter Island not only warms an area of the pond to keep it ice-free, to allow the exchange of gases, it also offers a floating island upon which birds can land and access a pool of water.
